The Clach were formed in August 2000 following a chance meeting at the well known Clachnaharry Inn on the north west outskirts of Inverness. They discovered a common interest in unaccompanied harmony singing as well as a range of Scottish, Irish and American Folk Music. Since 2000 The Clach have played in a wide range of venues from small intimate venues to Eden Court Theatre with over 800 people in it. Music in this site is drawn from their first CD 'Stones for Brains and a Demo disc which they are working at replacing over the next month or two.

The Clach have been involved and continue to support a number of charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Mercy Corps, Blythswood Care, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Ceol Beo and the rebuilding of a Children's Home in Sri Lanka following the Tsunami  of 2 years ago.
