Let's see: this is 2006 and I started folk singing in
1965. 2005 - 1965 = 41. Crikey! I've been subjecting the world to my singing
for 41 years! In the beginning, people had to listen to my rendition of
Watersons' songs, as they were the first influence on my music, I've
always loved unaccompanied harmony singing. Through the years my interest
has ranged from traditional folk music to contemporary music to country
music so that nowadays I sing a fair old mixture. Mind you, it's comforting
to know that I'm still singing one of the very first songs I
ever learned. That's 40 years of singing "Boston Harbour". One of these days
I'll get it right. I play a Seagull 6 string guitar in the band along with
the occasional tune on a 5 string banjo and am developing the mandolin. My
favourite guitar however remains my Aria Classical.
