I started playing guitar around about 1963 on an old
Rossetti which I inherited from my brother when he bought a better
guitar. This was followed soon after by a Framus cutaway and then a Levin
Goliath, a wonderful copy of a Martin D28. My early musical influences were
Archie Fisher, The Macalmans and The Kingston Trio to mention a few. I have
played and sung in a number of bands over the years, The Norlanders,
Barleycorn, John and George as well as on my own at times. I now play a
Martin, another Levin, a Bouzouki and dare I admit it, a 5 string banjo as
well as a bodhran, the butt of many jokes. I have always been interested in
harmony and the current line up gives free range to that interest. Like the
others in the band I still sing some of the songs that I learned when I
first started, although hopefully slightly better by now!
